Washer not spinning?

Water remains after a drain attempt

Drain trouble can prevent spin. Record whether the cycle completed and start with the washer drainage guide. From dry ground, note an externally visible hose kink only if you can see it without moving the washer. Do not open a water-filled hose or filter or reach through water to a control or plug.

If your Whirlpool front-load washer also displays F9E1 or F9 E1, use the front-load F9E1 drain guide. For a Whirlpool top-load washer showing F9 E1 / DRN, use the separate top-load guide; do not apply front-load filter instructions to it.

The cycle or spin starts, then stops

Record the stage where it stopped and any displayed code. If washing stopped before spin began, use the washer start and interrupted-cycle guide; do not assume a reset applies. If spin began and the load shook or slowed, wait for all motion to stop and the lid or door to open normally, then redistribute an uneven load only as your model manual allows. Samsung and Whirlpool describe balance retries or reduced spin; never force a lock.

The basket never spins

First check whether washing began and whether water remains. Use the drainage guide for water left after a drain attempt, or the start guide if the cycle never began. If wash finished and water cleared but spin never started, choose your reviewed brand guide for the next questions. Record the display and whether the lid or door closes normally; do not bypass its lock.

It spins, but clothes stay wet

Check whether the selected cycle uses low or no spin and whether the load was bulky or uneven. Follow your model manual to choose a spin option suitable for the fabric, then compare one similar load. Whirlpool notes that low spin removes less water. If the clothes stay wet, continue with the reviewed brand path.
