Last updated September 14, 2026

Appliance Verdict is designed to work without an account and to minimize the personal information needed for appliance troubleshooting.

Information used by the diagnostic

The diagnostic can process appliance type, brand, model number, error code or symptom, answers to diagnostic questions, and optional outcome feedback. The browser downloads only a limited coverage catalog. When you verify a model or start or continue a diagnostic, the appliance identity, issue, and current answer are sent to a first-party Netlify-hosted diagnostic endpoint so it can return the next reviewed step. The endpoint does not intentionally write the model number or full diagnostic-answer path to Appliance Verdict application storage.

The diagnostic endpoint returns an encrypted, opaque session token to your browser so later answers can continue the same reviewed path without exposing the complete internal decision graph. Recent sessions may still be stored locally on your device as described below.

Kenmore manufacturer lookup

If you use the Kenmore manufacturer lookup, the full Kenmore model number is sent to a first-party Netlify-hosted lookup endpoint. The endpoint compares that value with a private, reviewed manufacturer-attribution registry and returns only the supported manufacturer family or an unresolved/unsupported status. The private attribution registry is not sent to your browser, and the lookup does not automatically apply another manufacturer's diagnostic logic to the Kenmore model.

Recall checks

When you provide a model number, Appliance Verdict may send the model number, brand, and appliance type through our Netlify-hosted recall endpoint. That endpoint queries public U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall information and returns potential matches. Appliance Verdict does not intentionally include your name, email address, phone number, rating-label photo, or full diagnostic-answer path in that recall request.

Rating-label photos

If you use the optional label-photo helper, the image remains in your browser on your device and is not uploaded to Appliance Verdict. On supported browsers, built-in on-device text or barcode detection may suggest model-like values; those suggestions are not automatically accepted and must be confirmed by you.

Local browser storage

Appliance Verdict can store recent diagnostic sessions on your device so you can resume them without an account. A recent session can include the appliance, brand, model number, issue, diagnostic path, and result. The site can also store limited local event or outcome state used by the product. Recent sessions can be cleared from the diagnostic home screen, and browser/site-data controls can remove local storage.

Anonymous product-usage events

Remote anonymous product-usage events are disabled in this prelaunch release. The browser may retain one sanitized last-event record locally for debugging the product flow, but the blank analytics endpoint means no event is sent to Appliance Verdict storage. If measurement is approved later, the planned payload intentionally excludes model numbers, names, email addresses, phone numbers, rating-label photos, and full diagnostic-answer paths; any short-lived random session identifier would remain browser-session scoped.

Anonymous outcome feedback

Remote anonymous outcome feedback is disabled in this prelaunch release. If you tell us whether a diagnostic step or result fixed the problem or led to service, the current browser stores a bounded local outcome record so the interface can acknowledge your choice; the blank outcome endpoint means it is not sent to Netlify-hosted storage. The local and planned central record intentionally excludes the model number, name, email address, phone number, and rating-label photo from centrally stored outcome records.

Optional helpfulness feedback

A helpfulness feedback option has been prepared but is not active in this prelaunch release. When enabled, it will send feedback only after you choose a rating and press Send feedback. The stored record will contain the rating (yes, partly or no), an optional preset reason, the diagnostic guide identifier and the submission day. It will not contain a model number, diagnostic answers, photos, contact details or free text. Helpfulness feedback is separate from the local repair-outcome buttons described above. Hosting request metadata may still be processed as described below.

Hosting and network information

Like most hosted websites, our hosting provider may process ordinary request and security metadata, such as IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, and requested URLs, as needed to deliver and protect the service.

Analytics, advertising, and service routing

Google Analytics, advertising trackers, affiliate destination URLs, and direct service-request routing are not currently enabled in this prelaunch version. Appliance Verdict does not currently collect contact information for a paid service referral. If those features are enabled later, the applicable disclosures and this notice will be updated before the feature is activated.

Third-party links

The site links to sources such as manufacturers, the CPSC, and map/search services. When you follow an external link, that third party's privacy practices apply.
